Dance for Everyone

The National Youth Dance Company helps young dancers. It is part of the Sadler’s Wells theater in London. The group picks performers aged 16 to 24. They come from many places in England. This program makes dance easier to join. Many young people think dance is too expensive. The company removes this cost. It welcomes all talented dancers. You do not need expensive lessons. This helps show skills from everywhere.

The group chose 32 dancers last year. They came from 25 different spots. Some lived in big cities. Others lived in small towns. They performed in several cities. This shows talent is everywhere. The group made a show called Memory Keepers. It toured many places to see more people.

Access to the arts is a big worry. New research shows young adults feel less safe. They want to build confidence. The study found fewer chances for culture. The dance company wants to fix this. It gives a clear path for success.

Hannah Kirkpatrick leads the dance company. She says representation is very important. The group has dancers from all backgrounds. It includes disabled dancers too. This mix makes shows better. It shows dance is for everyone. The group has worked with 12,000 youth.

The results are very good. Nine out of ten dancers kept training. Many came from poor areas. This proves the group helps them. Michael Omoruyi is 18 years old. He says the group helped him grow. He made new friends there. He says the team feels like family.
